Quatuor italien originaire de Piacenza, Pertego diffuse un post-rock assez conventionnel dans sa construction. Hjarta, qui signifie "coeur" en islandais, est leur premier album.

Ce qui différencie Pertego des innombrables groupes de post-rock actuels, c'est qu'ils arrivent à insérer dans leur musique des vocaux d'une grande qualité. Suggérées, embrumées, les voix, féminines la plupart du temps, prennent même parfois une dimension lyrique. Leurs compositions jouissent d'une exceptionnelle fluidité. Les comparaisons avec Sigur Ros ou Explosions in the Sky ne sont, en conséquence, pas complètement usurpées. Chaque musicien joue parfaitement son rôle dans une harmonie parfaite.
Ils ont eu recours aux machines et à l'électronique pour peaufiner les séquences et les textures. L'exemple le plus probant étant l'échantillonnage sur le Bideri Evo FF de fermeture. Alternant entre volupté et rage contenue, les guitares sont excellentes. La batterie n'est pas en reste, l'accent est placé sur la cymbale, comme souvent dans toute production post-rock qui se respecte. On entre-aperçoit de bienvenus violons et du piano au gré du disque.
Le post-rock ne serait donc pas exclusivement une musique de romantiques transis ? Parmi l'immense amas de productions de ce style qui inondent les charts du monde entier, le célèbre adage de la bible n'a jamais pris autant son sens, "Beaucoup d'appelés pour peu d'élus". Pertego est sans nul doute un de ceux là. L'écoute de morceaux comme E/Pallatio ou Vigo ne peut qu'achever de vous en convaincre. Summer Night Games et Dance? sont des perles absolues du genre, avec pour ce dernier une divine capacité à la variation. Simplement beau... à en crever.

Qui aurait pu penser qu'un jour les regards des puristes post-rock pourraient se tourner vers l'Italie ? L'émergence d'une scène digne de ce nom est en marche au pays de la variété sirupeuse. Un beau disque à n'en pas douter, qui en appelle on l'espère, bien d'autres.

Dadawah and Nyahbinghi are Ras Michael's first two albums, and together on one CD, they highlight both sides of his sound.  The former blends traditional Rasta drumming with reggae bass lines, electric guitars, and other modern styles, while the latter contains Rasta drumming and chanting accompanied only by an occasional flute.   Unless you're a Rasta music purist, Dadawah will almost certainly appeal to you more than Nyahbinghi.  Although it only contains four tracks, Dadawah is a hauntingly somber, atmospheric work or art whose melodies and music blend perfectly to draw you in (You may recognize "Zion Land" from  Dennis Brown's hit "Africa.").  The melodies on Nyahbinghi, on the other hand, are only interesting in comparison to the music.  Only "Rise Jah Jah Children" arose any reaction from me, as it utilizes the melody from the doo-wop hit "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."  The rest of the songs are dull, mournful chants and/or hymns, each with the same sleep-inducing rhythm.  Why couldn't Dadawah be 12 tracks and Nyahbinghi  four?
