...2006 saw Freestyle Records in the UK release Diggin Deeper, a compilation of all of Speedometer’s early 7" 45 releases in one place on CD for the very first time. It also saw them back in Big Noise Studios to start laying tracks for the next album 4 Flights Up realeased in 2007 on Freestyle Records. Over the years, Speedometer has worked with many of the US funk legends including Sir Joe Quarterman, Eddie Bo, Marva Whitney, Sharon Jones, James Bell (The Highlighters), Lee Fields, Billy Wooten and Robert Moore. All the artists were blown away by 's authenticity to the original soul-funk sound. The 2007 album Four Flights Up is widely regarded as one of the best funk albums of the last 10 years. The band released a live album in March 2009, Soul Grooving and started recording their 5th studio album in summer 2009 for release in september 2010. This new album The Shakedown features contributions from Myles Sanko, DJ Format, Snowboy, The Root Source, Natasha Watts, and James Brown's co-vocalist Miss Martha High.

IN-DISPENSABLE a toute personne qui aime les sons groove, funky matinés d'une pointe de jazz. Ceux qui ne connaissent Schifrin que pour Mission Impossible ou Bullitt seraient étonnés de remarquer que le talent de ce monsieur est bien au dela de tout ca. Ecrit et arrangé en milieu des 70's pour Dizzy, pour une complicité musicale qui ne cessera pas, ce premier opus des deux compères est une réussite TOTALE..!!!!
Très bon tempos bien rythmés avec une diversité d'instruments, tels que les indispensables cuivres, mais aussi flutes, orgues electroniques, guitare, etc...
Fermez les yeux et vous replongerez dans l'esprit des 70's : pattes d'eph, starsky et hutch, shaft, etc.... Mais attention on ne peut parler ici de kitsch, il s'agit bien de bon jazz balancé, groovy a souhait et avec un soupcon de latino, Lalo Schifrin etant argentin.
Je ne vous le recommande pas, il s'impose pour tout amateur de jazz !!!

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals is a young, Vermont based band working to impact audiences with timeless, original music. Their creative blend of roots, funky blues, gospel, and rock conjures up a nostalgic sound most likely found in a record collection from the sixties and early seventies.

Fermez les yeux, laissez la porte du salon ouverte.
La voilà qui entre, micro en main, elle chante pour vous. Pose sa main sur votre épaule. Tandis que les musiciens s'installent.
Ils en manquent, les voilà, les violons, se font tout petit et se placent au fond de la pièce. Pour le Piano, ça n'a pas été de la tarte.
Vous vous en foutez, elle chante pour vous,.
Enfin, tout le monde est là. Doris peut pousser sa voix qui fait les montagnes russes.
Elle raconte que son mec est parti, vous aimeriez la consoler, mais elle vous maintient assis.

Sérieux, c'est davantage que de la soul, davantage que de la deep soul. C'est de la CLOSER SOUL., et si vous n'avez pas une petite émotion qui se glisse en vous, au moins lorsque son chant chuchote… Impossible, ce n'est pas vous.

Pour finir, un mystère: je n'ai pas gardé une trace de l'origine de ce disque, pourrait être mon dealer habituel (Revpop)? La médiathèque? Un Forumer?
En tout cas merci à elle ou lui.
Une fois de plus, avec cette musique, la journée sera belle, obligatoire.

J'ai peut-être trouvé un truc pour vous le faire télécharger: je n'ai pas mis en extrait "To The Other Woman (I'm The Other Woman)" son plus gros tube. D'autant plus que les extraits pourraient ne pas fonctionner.
