In “Haunting Love”, vocalist Iza Kowalewska dominates a vamping piano, slathering on a sultry flavor while each rimshot bitchslaps your pleasure center. Raising the energy level, the MZT remix of Roman Two sets a fire in the lounge hall and expects your sweat to extinguish the flames.

    For ten years the Jazz Pistols have been working on their Energy-Jazz. They are however, still able to discover new elements and levels of performance a fact that not only surprises themselves, but also their audiences.This versatility is one of the strengths of the Jazz Pistols. Even formed like a classic jazz trio the Jazz Pistols have developped a sensational variety of sound which they can easily translate live without the need for loops and overdubs . It is rare that Jazz-Rock – notoriously known as the music for musicians –is able to create this fascination on listeners – even when they normally don´t like fusion music. The extraordinary density of sound, the catchy melodies of the complex pieces, and culture of the musicianship – the Jazz Pistols are quite different from similar bands. Stefan Ivan Schäfer: His striking and variabel guitar sound carries and leads the band through ballads and hard groove pieces. His solo numbers melt into the compositions and with their catchy melodies are truly extraordinary. He is among one of the best guitarists in Germany , composes and plays for Uwe Ochsenknecht and can be found on various samplers. Christoph Victor Kaiser: Through his extraordinary tapping technique Christoph constantly is the harmonic backing of the band and simultanously creates musical intensification that cannot be expected. As recipiant of a scholarship from the renowned Berklee College of Music / Boston and due to his technical expertise the Jazz Pistols bass player is even on an international level known as a brilliant technician and for this reason has been sought after as interview partner for international music publications. Thomas Lui Ludwig: As lecturer at the Pop Academy in Mannheim, Germany, and through his work with Jule Neigel, Uwe Ochsenknecht, Vanilla Ninja and Chaka Khan Lui belongs to the absolute top of the german drummer elite. With Jazz Pistols Lui develops a polyrhythmic firework of extraordinary proportions, is constant support and manages at the same time to distance himself from traditional forms. Each member of the group is an accomplished musician with his individual style. The band combines their diverse talents into an exciting whole featuring varied original compositions, arrangements rich in texture, and infectious solo performances. It is surprising for a trio to show such expressiveness, variety of style and versatility; the reason why the Jazz Pistols captivate their audiences with this compactness and flexibility. Beside festival- and clubgigs in Germany and other countries the Jazz Pistols have toured twenty-six countries of Africa and Europe in the last years. The new CD „Jazz Pistols-live“ will be available from October 2006.

    Born in Seattle Washington, The Filthy Whores were a jazzy lounge quartet who played music with a sultry cabaret feel and a touch of Americana. Melodica sometimes found its way into their sets. The Filthy Whores are a "sexy, fun and very talented lounge act, something you can't say about most people under that heading." (Greg Lundgren, The Hideout) If Patsy Cline opted for the lounge and cabaret circuit instead of Nashville, Billie Holiday had Tenacious D as her backup musicians and Dean Martin and the Andrews Sisters got it on and had three unruly children it would feel a little like The Filthy Whores.

    The Filthy Whores perfomed regularly at The Hideout. They also performed at 12 Minutes Max, a monthly performance exhibition put on by On The Boards. The March 2006 show was curated by SuttonBeresCuller.

    The Filthy Whores name is an analogy - to the manual laborers, to those whose day is measured by a timeclock, to those who do the gritty, unglamorous modest wage work in our society - as opposed to the literal gender oriented meaning.

    Observing systems

    L’album Observing systems oscille entre l’electronica allemande de Markus et Micha Acher, Christoph Brandner (Lali Puna, The Notwist) , et le jazz de Johannes Enders et Andreas Gerth.
    Freakmachine mélange djembé, contrebasse, flûte traversière. Progressivement les instruments apparaissent pour renforcer une mélodie jazzy dirigée par un saxophoniste effréné.
    D’entrée de jeu, les rythmiques électroniques apportent une touche claire et chatouilleuse à ce jazz, la transparence d’une flûte traversière libère la charge d’une contrebasse, ou des notes de piano se mélangent en une sorte d’intro à des cliquètements sur Radio Rovan, une parfaite confrontation entre l’electronica allemande et le jazz.
    Mais pas seulement, au cours de l’album on découvre d’autres perspectives mélangeant des rythmes dub ou afro beat ; plus électronique comme Motorik ou Memory Dub.
    Un jazz peut-être pas digne d’un Cinématic Orchestra, mais assez mélodieux, criant parfois au-dessus des arrangements électroniques, Observing systems est parfait pour une soirée tranquille entre potes.
