1The ammount of times I changed my view of this CD the first time I listened to it illistrates the pure diversity of the tunes here.
The selection is fantastic and tunes range from proper 2step (TME) to slow dubby rythms (Digital Mystiks). If you are not into the whole range then this album is not for you...Personally I would call this a plus. The nMary Anne Hobbs plays it dirty and drops in some manic drum 'n' bass (Spor).
The tunes are selected for their pioneering in music and ignoring the "Cannon" of dubstep, they are not selected because the artists are well-known or whatever.
Also the Benga, Andy Scott, Burial, The Bug, Spor, Loefah and DJ Distance tracks are exclusives for this album. Also this is the only album I know of so far featuring mc's - over the 2step aswell as the 'real' dubstep (Terror Danjah, Mc Brattz & Bruza).

Lush, airy vocals juxtaposed with swirling instrumentation and
tightly-programmed percussion lie at the core of O-rynn’s ten-track
debut LP, Nomadica. An experiment in sonic variety, the Wurlizer-
tinged tracks are sometimes light and ethereal, other times moody
and melancholy, and at all times captivating. From drum-less ballads
like Song to the insanely fast-paced drum-n-bass ode Pristine, this
emotion-packed LP drowns itself in IDM bliss.
Relying not only on strong song structure but carefully crafted sounds,
Nomadica serves to take listeners to a beautifully haunting place.
Vocalist Maria Aggabao acts as the tour guide, painting musical
panoramas that simply jump from the speakers. Her partner, protean
producer and instrumentalist Erik Machado, does his part to ensure
that the correct mood is set by providing a soundscape that straddles
the line between vintage and futuristic.
Recorded over a six-month period in a small studio in Queens, New
York City, this ten-song excursion from the norm builds upon the duo’s
extremely wide variety of influences. With songs such as the Portis-
head / Wu-Tang Clan influenced Prey 4 Piece, O-rynn really puts
their own spin on all things, creating an extremely unique take on
    music.
Also included are two bonus tracks, the instrumental So Near Two
Far and a dancefloor-based drum-n-bass remix of Pristine by a dnb
up-and-comer with a phenomenal story named Mr. Joshua.
With Nomadica, O-rynn manages to create an infinite landscape of
wonderment, where the listener’s own imagination is the only bound-
    ary.

    By Wayne Stronell from http://www.cyclicdefrost.com

Founding member and key figure of the Vienna-based electronic-dub-collective Sofa Surfers, Markus Kienzl brings us his second solo album, merging electronics, dub, rock, hip hop and soul, melted together into Kienzl’s special blend of urban paranoia, and a further development from the intrinsically dub roots of past Sofa Surfers productions.

Musically, Density has a dirtier, harder edge, full to the brim with live drums, bass, guitar and the usual studio wizardry we’ve come to expect from Klein releases. Rock riffs sit comfortably next to dub effects and vocals from a variety of vocalists and MC’s. The electronics are the glue in the project, subtly underpinning the live sound of the instrumentation, and that is its major strength, enabling a traditional song structure to incorporate originality and inventiveness.

Supported by a vast array of talent, Cutty Ranks, Oddateee, DJ Collage, Jack Hirschmann, Tania Saedie and Dolli Melaine, Kienzl paints a picture of a sounding and shining dark monolith, pulsating with enigmatic forces in a chimerical urban soundscape. There is a bleakness to Density, but it works as a gripping journey through disturbed urban environments.

“For Real” is the perfect track for Oddateee to spit over, its not a Dalek production, but it’s the next best thing, while “Infrared Dot” lays down a similar hard beat for Oddateee, sampled most probably from the same source as the last EP from Jamie Vex’d. The electro-clash of “Scream” leaves me somewhat cold, and seems out of place here. Kienzl switches things around for “The Kung Fu Divas” and “Sniper, Sniper (A Cutty Ranks Tale)”, bringing us back to a dancehall sound that artists from Vienna always seem to be drawn to, and Cutty Ranks toasts like no other. Rounding out the album with “One Of 33 Million”, kind of a cross between Hood and Glen Porter, Density is an album full of inventiveness, this may be downtempo, but it has a harder edge. Worth seeking out.
