More supercool Japanese minimalism from Oki, who last year had a hit on his hands with his tirelessly oddball remix collection Dub Ainu. Deluxe is all new stuff and if anything more pared down (not to mention barely 30 minutes long). What you get for your yen are old Ainu ladies singing over trippy, trance-inducing grooves; guest vocals from Senegal's Fania; something reminiscent of the Camberwick Green music box; and at the heart of the mix the mysterious, dry plink of the tonkori, the ancient string instrument Oki plays when he's not poised over the mixing desk in Hokkaido. The RockAShacka label out of Japan issue a compilation of dubs from the eccentric production hands of the man called Glen Brown, 15 dubs apparently from legendary lost tapes mixed by the hand of the dub master King Tubby. You will be familiar with some of the riddims, dubs to tracks like Never Too Young To Learn, Father Of The Living, Away With The Bad, Merry Up, As Long As There Is You, When I Fall In Love and more, and then there`s the few others not heard by many an ear at all ! Glen Brown utilised many of the islands greatest musicians, from the likes of the Wailers d`nb section, Sly n Robbie, Skatalites musicians and so on, they`re all there, and mightily dubbed by King Tubby, the dense reverb and shattering echoes, slicing equalisation on hihats and chops, riddims stripped down to their bare bones and brought back again, horns, flutes, keys and voices sent swirling into the musical ether...magical, and mystical...

Trayendo el reggae del bueno, el de las raices para toda la gente de los magios. Esta es una banda formada alla por el 74 del siglo pasado en inglaterra con musicos ingleses, jamaiquinos y de anguila. Cuando Delroy Wilson, Ken Bothe y Dennis Brown se pegaban una vuelta por Inglaterra ellos eran su backing band en sus conciertos en vivo. Lamentablemente dejaron de sonar cuando su tecladista fallecio en un confuso hecho en Jamaica en 1995 a causa de unos disparos. Notaran que estos muchachos eran unos adelantados a su epoca, haciendo temazos zarpados, arrancando muy roots y terminandolo al mejor estilo dub, mucha melodia, efectos, muy recomendable para oidos exquisitos.
