Le netlabel bordelais French Dub Released (FDR pour les intimes) nous a réservé un beau cadeau en ce début d'été : le maxi Tribute To King Tubby de Manutension en téléchargement libre sur le site du label !

Pour situer Manutension à ceux qui ne le connaissent pas encore, voici une rapide bio. Membre fondateur du groupe pionnier de la scène dub française Improvisators Dub dont il est le guitariste live et accessoirement clavier, percussionniste en studio et ce depuis 14 ans. Il opère également en solo sur des sound systems (et avec son propre sound) depuis une dizaine d'année, a sorti plusieurs productions en maxis 45t, un album complet en 2002 : Dub Attack The Tech Vol.1 – Strictly For Sound System Dub et est aussi présent sur de prestigieuses compilations dub (Dub Excursion volumes 1 & 2, French Dub System 2, Dub Odyssey...).
Après avoir rendu hommage à Prince Far-I sur Dub Attack The Tech Vol.1, Manutension rend aujourd'hui hommage au King Tubby avec un titre se qui se décline en 4 parties : la première pourrait être qualifiée de steppa mix, la 2nde dub mix, la 3ème deep dub mix et la 4ème deep dub & sax mix. On retrouve les sonorités digitales UK style chères à Manutension, proches également de celles du dernier album d'Improvisators Dub Rumble avec une approche de mix traditionnelle (analogique) très appréciable.

Idéal pour les playlists de vos longues soirées d'été, ce maxi devrait ravir plus d'un amateur de steppa, de dub mixes et de King Tubby. À télécharger, écouter et partager, thanks FDR.

Six mois après la sortie du premier opus baptisé Melody Roots sur ODGProd, le barcelonais Dani Ites est de retour avec une nouvelle mouture nommée Spiral. Toujours garnie de la même énergie cette release a été enregistrée et mixée dans le courant de l'année 2010. Producteur insatiable, Dani nous propose  une fois de plus un flash-back habile au coeur des  années "vintages". On remarquera un travail différent comparé au traitement très "digital" de la partie rythmique sur Melody Roots, un accent beaucoup plus instrumental habille Spiral accompagnant divinement bien chaque mélodie céleste jouées au mélodica.

Six months after the release of the  first album called Melody Roots on ODGProd,  the Barcelona's Dani Ites is back with a new album called Spiral. Always with the same energy this release was recorded and mixed in the course of 2010.  The unflagging producer Dani is proposing once again a clever flashback into the 70's. We noted a different job compared to treatment very "digital" part of the rhythm on Melody Roots, a lot more instrumental emphasis dresses Spiral accompanying each divinely celestial melody played on the melodica.

If his previous work established Fearon's tenure in the reggae world, the 15 lessons on this album reveal a deeper mastery. They teach us to transcend melody and lyrics, into direct experience. I've been thinking about this album for a long time, Clinton reveals. In Faculty of Dub he gives vent to creative experimentation that builds upon his previous work. The layered sounds, echoes and reverberations blend into songscapes evocative of the legendary Jamaican sound system engineers. You may recognize some rhythms from earlier recordings, but this album is original in every sense.

Recorded in Seattle with the Boogie Brown Band, he teams especially strongly with singer and musician Ire, whose experience hails from Culture, and Winston Watson of Meditations fame.
