• Bomb The Music Industry - Get Warmer

In a year of good tries and better luck next times, there is a man that will not stand for this blasphemy. Bomb the Music Industry's third LP (fourth release), Get Warmer, takes the best parts of "Album Minus Band" and "Goodbye Cool World" and combines it with new and interesting elements. The songs as a whole feel more structured and focused than previous ones, and the result of that is the most accessible BTMI! album to date. And thankfully this doesn't take away from the substance and replay value of the CD. Rosenstock's gloriously incomprehensible yelling hasn't changed and his lyrics are still heartbreakingly humorous and clever. I will say this right now, Jeff Rosenstock is the only man that can make you feel upset over a wet t-shirt (no, not that kind... perv). The album itself sounds phenomenal as the guys got into the studio for this, and they brought a drum kit with them. There are a plethora of high points on this album. Besides each song having something unique and memorable about them, there's a good number of songs that make you drop your jaw and/or melt your face. The middle-finger doo-wop of "I Don't Love You Anymore" will be repeating itself over and over again in your head, especially the drum solo which is one of the best I've heard this year (sorry Jimmy Chamberlin). The guitar riffs in "No Rest For the Whiny" are fantastic and the horns add so much to the song. So does Rosenstock's incredible "no breathe" technique used while spurting out hundreds of words in a small amount of time. The opening track, "Jobs Schmobs", builds to an intense punk song with bouncing horns and great lyrics. Might I add that whenever synths and horns make an appearance, they're usually very addictive and often times make the song. BTMI! show's off more of their ska side with "Depression Is No Fun" which sounds like The Slackers on crack... crack that causes feedback. And the title track can be summed up in one word: Epic. The twelve track album ends with a quick, sweet acoustical punk song, "The Last Party (Foul)", that sticks itself in your enigma for days. Besides "Pizza Claus is Comin' to Town" which begins to drag before the ending (which is great), Get Warmer is Bomb the Music Industry's (correct grammar?) masterpiece. Note: I don't really know what doo-wop is, I just thought it sounded cool with 'middle-finger' next to it. And I was too lazy to look it up on Wikipedia... they probably have the wrong meaning anyway... you know it's true.
